Shrink Film Solutions

Product Snapshot

  • Tight, Wrinkle-Free Finish: Our shrink films contract closely around the product under heat, giving a clean, professional finish that lifts shelf presentation.
  • POF and PE Grades: High-clarity polyolefin for retail and food packs, and tougher polyethylene for heavier and bulkier goods.
  • Tamper-Evident Protection: A sealed shrink wrap cannot be opened and resealed without being noticed, protecting products throughout distribution and retail.
Shrink film is a packaging film that contracts tightly around a product when heat is applied. The item is wrapped loosely, then passed through a heat tunnel or treated with a heat gun, causing the film to shrink and form a close, wrinkle-free skin around it.
In the UAE food, beverage and retail sectors, presentation and product protection matter equally. AAB Industries provides premium shrink films in polyolefin and polyethylene grades, supplied in centre-fold format for use on automatic and semi-automatic packing lines. Our films are suitable for everything from small retail packs to large, awkwardly shaped goods.

What is a Shrink Film?

Shrink film is a plastic film that contracts when heated. During production, the film is stretched and then cooled, locking tension into the material. When heat is later applied, the film relaxes and returns towards its original dimensions, drawing tightly around whatever it surrounds.

The two principal materials are polyolefin (POF) and polyethylene (PE).

  • POF is prized for its clarity, gloss and even shrink, which makes it the standard for retail-facing packs.
  • PE is thicker and tougher, better suited to heavier items and bundling. Both conform well to odd shapes and large sizes, giving economical, long-lasting protection with a clean finish.

Key Features of Shrink Film

High heat-shrinking properties for a tight, close-fitting wrap
High clarity and gloss that keeps products and labels fully visible
Conforms to odd shapes and large sizes without wrinkling
Strong puncture and impact resistance for reliable transit protection
Centre-fold format suited to automatic and semi-automatic wrapping

Industrial Applications

Food, Beverage and Retail
Shrink film gives packaged food and beverage products a clean, tamper-evident finish for the shelf. Its clarity keeps branding and labelling visible, which supports presentation at the point of sale.
Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Goods
Cosmetics, toiletries, pharmaceuticals and multimedia products are wrapped in shrink film for both protection and security. The sealed wrap shows clearly if a pack has been opened.
Toys, Promotional and Industrial Goods
Toys, sporting goods, promotional items and larger industrial products are wrapped or bundled in shrink film. Heavier grades hold multipacks together and protect goods through distribution.

Types of Shrink Film

Technical Documentation and Storage

Accessing detailed product information is essential for matching the right film grade to your packaging standards. We provide specification sheets for both our POF and PE shrink films to support your quality and procurement processes.
Proper storage is critical to maintaining shrink performance. Rolls should be kept clean and dry in a well-ventilated area, preferably at a temperature between 20°C and 30°C. It is important to store film away from direct sunlight, freezing conditions and other heat sources, as any of these can affect how the film shrinks.
For the best results, the surface of the product being wrapped must be clean and free from dust and grease. Film should be matched to the heat settings of your shrink tunnel or heat gun, and rolls should be used within a reasonable period of delivery.
Note: All information and recommendations are provided in good faith, based on practical experience, but without warranty. Users should determine the suitability of each product and the method of application for their specific use.

Shrink Film FAQ

Q) What is shrink film used for?
Shrink film is used to wrap and seal products so that the film contracts tightly around them under heat. It is widely used for food and beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, multimedia, toys and promotional items, giving both protection and a clean retail finish.
Q) What is the difference between POF and PE shrink film?
POF shrink film is a thinner polyolefin film, from 13 to 25 microns, with high clarity and even shrinkage, which suits retail and food packaging. PE shrink film is much thicker, from 40 to 200 microns, and tougher, making it better for heavier goods, multipacks and industrial bundling.
Q) What is centre-folded shrink film?
Centre-folded film is supplied folded in half along its length, so the product can be placed inside the fold and sealed on the open sides. This format is designed for use with automatic and semi-automatic shrink wrapping machines.
Q) Does shrink film need special equipment?
Yes. Shrink film needs heat to activate, applied either through a shrink tunnel on a production line or with a handheld heat gun for lower volumes. The film will not contract without a heat source.
Q) What is the difference between shrink film and stretch film?
Shrink film is wrapped loosely and then heated so it contracts tightly around a product. Stretch film is applied under tension and holds a load through its own elastic recovery, with no heat needed. Shrink film seals individual products, while stretch film secures palletised loads.
Q) Do you supply shrink film in bulk across the UAE?
Yes. We stock POF and PE shrink film in Dubai and supply it in bulk to food, beverage, retail and manufacturing customers. Please contact us for bulk pricing and lead times.
