What is Protective Packaging?
Protective packaging is any material used inside or around a package to shield its contents from damage. It works in three ways.
Cushioning absorbs impact and vibration, so a shock to the outer carton is not transmitted to the product. Surface protection prevents scratching, scuffing and abrasion between items or against the box. Void fill takes up empty space, so goods cannot move around inside the carton in the first place.
Most packing operations use a combination of all three. The right choice depends on how fragile the item is, how heavy it is, and how rough a journey it faces.

Industrial Applications
Choosing Between Paper and Plastic Protection
Bubble wrap remains the benchmark for cushioning performance, particularly for anti-static and moisture-sensitive goods. Paper-based options such as corrugated roll and honeycomb protect just as effectively in many applications, while fitting into paper recycling streams.
If reducing plastic is a priority for your business, our sustainable packaging range covers the paper-based alternatives in more detail.
