What are Self-Adhesive Tapes?
A self-adhesive tape is a backing material coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The adhesive bonds on contact when light pressure is applied, with no need for water, heat or a solvent to activate it.
Performance depends on two choices. The backing determines strength, flexibility and durability, whether that is polypropylene film, crepe paper, cloth, aluminium foil or PVC. The adhesive determines how the tape bonds and how it behaves over time, with acrylic, hot-melt and rubber systems each suited to different temperatures, surfaces and removal requirements. Matching both to the job is what separates a tape that holds from one that fails.
